Bill Maris is an entrepreneur, venture capitalist, and technology executive. He is the founder of S32, a venture capital firm investing at the frontiers of innovation. His investment track record includes iconic, category-defining companies that have collectively grown to hundreds of billions of dollars in market value, generating billions of dollars of returns.
Bill is the founder and former CEO of Google Ventures (GV), the venture capital arm of Alphabet, Inc., and previously served as Alphabet’s Vice President of Special Projects. Working closely with Google’s founders, he helped incubate and launch major initiatives including Google X, Waymo, and Verily, while leading global investment activities for Alphabet. His leadership spanned a broad array of cutting-edge technologies—from cybersecurity and cloud infrastructure to aviation, artificial intelligence and robotics.
During his tenure at Google, Bill founded Calico, a multi-billion-dollar company focused on understanding the biology of aging and lifespan. He served on the board of Nest and recruited the CEOs of Verily, Chronicle, and Calico.Earlier in his career, Bill founded one of the world’s first web-hosting companies and worked at Sweden-based Investor AB. He also assisted MacArthur Fellow David Green in transferring a hydrophobic acrylic lens technology to Aurolab, where it has since helped prevent or cure cataract blindness in millions of underserved people worldwide.


Andy currently serves as the CEO and General Partner of S32, drawing on a distinguished career in leadership roles at Alphabet’s most innovative divisions.
During his tenure at GoogleX, he worked on a diverse portfolio of projects involving AI, robotics, cybersecurity, and quantum computing. His strategic guidance was central to the successful spin-out of SandboxAQ and Intrinsic (acquired by Google). He remains an active advisor to GoogleX.
At Google Life Sciences (Verily), Andy was a member of the executive leadership team as the Global Head of Business and Corporate Development. In this capacity, he pioneered go-to-market campaigns, partnerships and joint ventures with world leading healthcare companies. These efforts fueled Verily’s rapid expansion and multi-billion dollar financings. He also co-founded Verily Ventures, which delivered top-tier returns, and was a founding member of Granular Insurance, a reinsurance subsidiary recently acquired by Elevance.
Before his time at Google, Andy’s entrepreneurial track record included building a Stanford-seeded startup that was successfully acquired and a second company that continues to grow and scale. He began his career within the DFJ Global Venture Network.
Today, he is a widely recognized authority in artificial intelligence, frequently speaking at prestigious universities and major industry conferences. His insights are often featured in leading publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Forbes, and Fortune.
Andy is a patented inventor with an undergraduate degree in Biochemical Engineering from McGill University and a Master’s in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University including research at MIT’s Department of Chemical Engineering. Additionally, he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst designation, blending engineering proficiency with deep financial acumen.

Andy is a General Partner of S32, a venture capital firm investing at the frontiers of technology.
Prior to joining S32, Andy founded and served as the CEO and Executive Chairman of Verily (previously Google Life Sciences), the healthcare arm of Alphabet. He also held positions at GV (previously Google Ventures) and X (previously GoogleX) and worked with DeepMind, Google Cloud, Google AI and other technical and business teams in the Google ecosystem. Andy continues to serve as an advisor at Google.
Before joining Google, Andy was the Chief Scientific Officer of Laboratory Corporation of America (LabCorp). He previously co-founded the National Genetics Institute which grew rapidly before being acquired by LabCorp.
He graduated with a B.S. in neurobiology and a Ph.D. in cell biology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).


Mike is a General Partner of S32, a venture capital firm investing at the frontiers of technology. Prior to joining S32 in 2017, he served as CEO of Foundation Medicine, a company which transformed the way pharmaceutical companies and physicians evaluate the genomic changes underlying a patient’s cancer, until he transitioned to Chairman through the close of Roche’s (RHHBY) acquisition of FMI in August 2018. Previously, he was President and COO of Clarient, a national leader in molecular pathology, which was acquired by GE Healthcare in 2010.
He currently serves on the Board of Directors for Nusano, Octave BioSciences, TwinStrand Genomics, Exai Bio, and Delve Bio. He previously served on the Board of the American Cancer Society until July 2025, as well as on the boards of Thrive Earlier Detection—acquired by Exact Sciences (EXACT) in 2021, Tango Therapeutics (TNGX), Adaptive Biotechnologies (ADPT), and Singular Genomics (OMIC). Mike brings deep expertise in personalized medicine, with a particular passion and focus on defeating cancer.
During the COVID pandemic, Mike served as a Senior Advisor to the Rockefeller Foundation’s efforts on COVID-19 testing.
Mike received a BA from Boston College, an MBA from Drexel University and an MD from Jefferson Medical College.


Steve is a General Partner of S32, a venture capital firm investing at the frontiers of technology.
Prior to joining S32, Steve served as founding CEO and later as Executive Chairman of Thrive Earlier Detection, a healthcare company advancing a breakthrough blood test for the earlier detection of multiple types of cancer. Thrive was acquired by Exact Sciences in January 2021. Steve also served as Executive Chairman at the molecular technology company ArcherDX, Inc., which was acquired by Invitae. Earlier, Steve was President and Chief Operating Officer at Foundation Medicine, which was acquired by Roche, and also held leadership roles with several biotechnology companies.
At S32, Steve focuses on technologies that advance precision medicine using data, AI, and emerging biology across life science applications. Since joining S32 he has led or co-led more than a dozen investments, and currently is a Board Director at BigHat Biosciences, Manifold Bio, and Exai Bio.
Steve holds a PhD degree in political economy and government from Harvard University and a BA degree in economics and political science from Stanford University.


Alice Cheung leads Talent at S32 where she is responsible for advising and identifying top talent for the fund’s portfolio companies.
Alice spent a decade at Alphabet (Google and X) where she started as the company’s first new grad sourcer and became the company’s youngest L7 Engineering Staffing Manager. As Google’s top producing recruiter from 2010 onwards, Alice holds the record of 147 hires in a single year and ended her tenure with 1468 hires worldwide.
After copious experience in industry, research and college hiring, Alice moved to X and built the original engineering teams for: Waymo, Loon, Glass, Gcam, Wing, Smart Contact Lenses, Design Kitchen, Baseline and Verily. In addition to staffing up Google X, Alice was also the recruiting partner responsible for Google Robotics, Helpouts, Niantic, and multiple acquisitions such as Makani, Skybox Imaging and Titan Aerospace.
Most recently, Alice was the Principal Recruiter at Playground Global and Head of Staffing at Essential where she made 224+ hires.
Alice received her BA in Mass Communications and Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. She has two pet rabbits named Hoptimus Prime and Hare Jordan.


Allison supports the firm’s fundraising and investor relations strategy.
Allison previously held investor relations roles at both 8VC and Blackstone. At 8VC, Allison managed the firm’s marketing strategy and helped raise multiple funds, significantly contributing to the firm’s growth. Prior to 8VC, she worked at Blackstone in New York City, where she supported private equity fundraising and focused on building firmwide strategic relationships with the world’s largest investors. She started her career as an investment banking analyst at Merrill Lynch.
Allison received a B.S. in Finance from Penn State University.


Ayesha Arora is a Venture Partner at S32, where she focuses on enterprise software, AI, fintech and cybersecurity investment opportunities. Prior to S32, Ayesha worked at Brex on the Product Marketing team, where she led impactful end-to-end go-to-market campaigns, implemented tactics to increase demand and revenue for new products and launched founder community-building initiatives.
Ayesha also completed co-ops with Airbnb on the growth marketing team and YouTube on the product marketing team. Ayesha received a BS in Business Administration and Communication Studies from Northeastern University.


Bayan Alizadeh is a Partner at S32, where he focuses on enterprise software, AI, and deep tech investment opportunities.
Prior to S32, Bayan was an investor at Norwest Venture Partners, where he led and executed a number of investments in applied AI, infrastructure, deep tech and enterprise software. At Norwest, Bayan partnered closely with founders building category-defining companies, and was actively involved with the boards of his portfolio companies.
Previously, Bayan was an investment banker at Morgan Stanley, where he worked on a variety of transactions, including the IPOs of Rivian, Nubank, and HashiCorp.
Bayan received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, where he was a CJ White Scholar.


Derrick is a Partner at S32, where he focuses on enterprise software, AI and data infrastructure investment opportunities.
Prior to S32, Derrick was on the investment team at CapitalG, the late-stage venture arm of Alphabet. At CapitalG, Derrick was involved in all aspects of investing from sourcing to working closely with companies post-investment. He worked with world-class teams including Stripe, UiPath, Duolingo, Webflow, and Whatnot. At S32, he will continue working with founders to build and scale the next generation of iconic companies.
Previously, Derrick worked at Morgan Stanley, where he supported a range of technology companies on capital raises, IPO and M&A efforts including Slack and ZoomInfo. Prior to investment banking, Derrick also spent time at numerous startups, including Uber and Fivestars.
Derrick received a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley through a full-ride scholarship from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.


Evalynne is an executive assistant and office lead at S32’s Palo Alto, CA office where she supports Bill Maris, Andy Harrison, and Mike Pellini. Prior to joining the team, Evalynne was on operations teams at Google Ventures, Chronicle, Verily, and Redpoint Ventures and has over 15 years of support experience.
Evalynne holds a B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Irvine.


Isabelle is the Accounting Manager at S32, where she works with the Assistant Controller and Controller in overseeing portfolio reporting, investor reporting, accounting, and tax functions.
Prior to joining S32, Isabelle was part of the finance team at Venrock. She began her career in the assurance practice at Ernst & Young, serving private and public clients in the biotech and semiconductor industries.
Isabelle holds a B.S. in Accounting from Santa Clara University’s Leavey School of Business.


Jennie Chan is a Controller at S32 and is responsible for portfolio reporting, investor reporting, accounting, and tax functions. Prior to S32, Jennie was part of the finance and accounting teams at Sequoia Capital and Sansome Partners.
She began her career at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP with the Asset Management team specializing in tax compliance and strategy for Venture Capital, Private Equity, and Hedge Funds. Jennie graduated from UCSC with a BA in Business Management Economics and Golden Gate University with a Master’s in Accountancy.


Kenzo is a Partner at S32, leveraging over 20 years of experience as a product leader and two-time founder to identify and scale high-potential, early-stage companies. Within the firm, he drives the deployment of AI-native systems and robust data infrastructure to optimize investment strategy, sourcing, and operational excellence.
A seasoned operator, Kenzo brings a deeply technical, hands-on approach to the S32 portfolio. He partners directly with founders to navigate the architectural hurdles of hypergrowth, specializing in AI product strategy, LLM integration, and building the core infrastructure necessary to move from prototype to production at scale.
Currently, Kenzo also leads core AI product initiatives at Airtable. There, he is architecting the platform’s AI-native future by delivering the specialized build capabilities and LLM quality frameworks that empower enterprises to ship scalable AI applications.
Kenzo’s track record is defined by building and scaling products used by billions. His expertise spans the full lifecycle of hypergrowth: he drove the developer ecosystem and product strategy for Android during its rise to become the world’s most popular operating system. He also led product marketing for Google Maps across EMEA and was a founding member of the Uber Everything team. At Uber, he built the product growth and go-to-market engine for Uber Eats from the ground up, scaling the business to over $200M in annual recurring revenue.
As a two-time founder in the AI and productivity sectors—and a former Entrepreneur-in-Residence at AI Fund collaborating with Andrew Ng—Kenzo deeply understands the grit of the “zero-to-one” journey. He remains fiercely passionate about partnering with early-stage teams to solve complex product challenges and build sustainable, category-defining companies.


Kimberly is a Talent Partner at S32 where she works closely with the funds’ portfolio companies to drive talent strategies and boost talent pipelines. She is passionate about making meaningful connections and building great teams.
Prior to S32, Kimberly started her career at a staffing firm where she specialized in engineering and design placements. Most recently, Kimberly was at Essential where she supported hiring across engineering and SG&A verticals.
Kimberly holds a B.S. in Biological Sciences from University of California, Santa Barbara, and holds a SHRM-CP certification. She is also an active member of the VC Platform Global Community.


Linda has been an Executive Assistant supporting Andy Conrad for over 20 years. She has four decades of experience in corporate administration managing teams in groundbreaking corporate environments such as LabCorp and Google, and supporting high profile public figures, including Alan Thicke and Mick Fleetwood.
Linda holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Sociology from Baylor University.


Nathan is a Partner at S32, where he focuses on B2B software and infrastructure.
Prior to S32, Nathan was on the investment team at Lightspeed Venture Partners, where he was a full-stack tech investor. At Lightspeed, Nathan was involved in deploying over $1B in investment capital, including Lightspeed’s largest ever single investment check.
He worked with exceptional teams at Anthropic, Chainguard, Semgrep, Tome, Intenseye and EvenUp, amongst many others.
Nathan received a BA in Applied Mathematics and Economics from Yale University.


Nick builds and manages our relationships with our Limited Partners and new prospective investors, providing these leading non-profit institutions, educational endowments, and charitable family offices the world-class communication and service they deserve.
Previously, Nick was the Head of Investor Relations at Foresite Capital, where he presided over a period of substantial growth and product expansion. Before that, Nick opened Winton Group’s San Francisco office and data science center, where he served the company as Director and Regional Head of Client Advisory and led Winton’s business development efforts. Nick previously led marketing and investor relations for Northgate Capital and Sagewood Capital.
Nick’s professional experience also includes working for two statewide elected officials within the Office of the Governor and in the Office of the California State Controller. In this capacity, he served as the State Controller’s appointed voting representative on several state boards and commissions, including the boards of the California Public Employees’ Retirement System and the California State Teachers’ Retirement System.
Nick earned a B.A. in political science from the University of California, Los Angeles.


Nina serves as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer for S32 where she is focused on establishing world-class finance and operations systems and processes, and building and leading best practices for the management of the firm.
Previously, Nina served as COO and General Partner for Trinity Ventures where she managed firm operations and strategic projects, spanning finance, marketing, data science and operations/administration. Having worked in the venture capital and private equity sector since 2001, Nina is a recognized industry expert on back office operations. Over the last 20 years, she has held CFO and operational roles at other firms; was Chairman of the Board of the VCBC, the largest industry association of venture capital finance professionals; and was a Managing Director at Silicon Valley Bank in the largest practice serving this sector.
Prior to that, Nina held CFO and management positions in operating companies after beginning her career as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs in New York and Montgomery Securities in San Francisco.
Nina holds an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School, an M.A. in International Policy Studies from Stanford University, and a B.A. in Economics with Honors also from Stanford University.


Olivia Lu is the Assistant Controller at S32, where she works with the Controllers in overseeing portfolio reporting, investor reporting, accounting, and tax functions.
Prior to joining S32, Olivia served as a Portfolio Valuation Manager at KKR. She began her career in the tax practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers, specializing in venture capital and private equity.
Olivia holds a B.S. in Management from Shanghai Jiao Tong University and a Master’s in Accounting from the University of Maryland, College Park.


Robyn is an Executive Assistant at S32. Prior to joining the team she was at Evidation as their Office Administrator. Robyn has also worked for the County of San Mateo, and City and County of San Francisco.
Robyn holds a B.S in Business Administration Concentration in Management from San Francisco State University.


Tom is S32’s Head of Data, where he is responsible for creating and growing the data and analytics solutions that support and guide the firm’s investing and operational decisions.
Tom spent a combined 13 years at Alphabet (Google and Google Ventures / GV). He started as a core member of the Ads Quality/Ads Metrics team, and contributed to building the world’s most sophisticated ads analytics systems. He moved to the Economics team working closely with Google’s Chief Economist, Hal Varian, offering technical help to teams like Shopping, News, Sales, and Legal. He then joined Google Ventures as an Engineering Partner exploring how to best use data and machine learning to help venture capital investment decision making.
After Alphabet, Tom was the Chief Data Scientist at Kai-Fu Lee’s Sinovation Ventures, and was then a senior director at WeWork, overseeing its global site selection and pricing algorithms.
Tom holds his BA in Mathematics from Peking University and PhD in Statistics from Stanford University.


Wesley Tillu is a Partner at S32, a venture capital fund investing at the frontiers of technology. He focuses on the firm's technology investment efforts.
Prior to S32, Wesley was an investor at In-Q-Tel, the venture capital firm of the CIA and U.S. intelligence community. He led and executed a number of investments across cybersecurity, AI/ML, enterprise software, fintech, and deep technology, and he was actively involved with the boards of portfolio companies.
Wesley previously worked at Google where he managed partnerships and operations for its e-commerce platform, Google Express. He collaborated closely with product management and engineering teams to grow and scale the partner ecosystem by over 20x during his time there.
He worked as a private equity investor at GIC, Singapore's investment arm, where he executed direct investments across technology, consumer, retail and healthcare industries. Wesley started his career as an investment banking analyst at Merrill Lynch, where he advised and executed on M&A and equity transactions.
Wesley received an MBA from Wharton, an MA in International Studies from the University of Pennsylvania, and a Master of Engineering and BS in Operations Research & Engineering from Cornell University.
